Shannon Sharpe is one of the more popular talking heads on sports television today. He has had a lot of success as one of the co-hosts of Undisputed on Fox Sports but Sharpe found himself in some trouble when he decided to step foot on an NBA court.

He was in attendance when the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Memphis Grizzlies but completely lost his cool after engaging in a back-and-forth with Dillon Brooks in the first half. He ended up getting into a heated exchange with a lot of the Grizzlies players, as well as Tee Morant, Ja Morant’s father. Security had to get involved to separate the parties involved but Sharpe was allowed to remain courtside for the second half. LeBron James defended Sharpe after the game but not everyone was a fan of his actions. Brooks was of the opinion that Sharpe shouldn’t have been allowed back in the game and former NBA player Chandler Parsons blasted the Lakers for not kicking him out of the arena.

“This is a joke. Shame on the Lakers and the Lakers security because I agree with Dillon Brooks to a point that if this was any other person, if this was a regular person, this guy would have been kicked out so fast, players would be complaining about how ‘You can’t just buy a ticket and say whatever you want. We’re not performers, we’re not animals.’ Shannon Sharpe has been on live television saying that just because you buy a ticket, it doesn’t give you the right to go and heckle and say and do exactly what he did, so this was silly.”

“I know he’s a LeBron fan, I know that’s his guy and I know the Grizzlies talk a lot of trash and they can be a lot to handle too but this guy should’ve been kicked out so quick, he should not be able to go back to the game courtside like this was pathetic on Lakers security honestly because this is not right. Nobody, I don’t care if you’re Shannon Sharpe, I don’t care if you’re a normal banker and reseda, you cannot go and talk trash like this to players that are working and competing, so I thought this was pretty weak and I thought there’s no place for this and he should have been tossed right away.”

Any regular person would have definitely been kicked out of the game and they probably would have been banned from attending games at the arena for a while as well. Sharpe seems to have gotten away with it because of his stature in the sports world as we haven’t heard about any action being taken against him by the NBA or the Lakers.

Shannon Sharpe Apologized For His Actions

Sharpe seemed to have quashed his beef with Tee Morant rather quickly but he still had to come out and apologize for his actions, which is what he did. On Monday’s episode of Undisputed, he gave out a lengthy apology, as he stated he should have lowered the temperature in the arena but he turned it up instead.

He apologized to the Lakers, Grizzlies, Brooks, Jeanie Buss, as well as LeBron, as he should have. It remains to be seen if Sharpe will be welcomed back to the arena and if he is, you better believe he will be on his best behavior.
