Channing Frye: “I Never Had Jordan As My Top Player Of All-Time List… I Had Players Like Tim Duncan, I Had Kobe, I Had LeBron”

Channing Frye has been drawing a lot of negative attention lately as his comments about Michael Jordan unleashed mayhem in social media, as he went on to say that MJ was only a scorer right in the middle of ‘The Last Dance’:

“He only had really one job. And that was to just score. And he did that at an amazing, amazing rate. But, I don’t feel like his way of winning then would translate to what it is now. Guys wouldn’t want to play with him,” Frye said.

Jordan fans from all over the world went to Frye for his comments, pretty much bashing him from his lack of individual success in the NBA and pointing out Jordan’s resume right at his face.

The former NBA Champion, far from taking away his comments, doubled down on his bet by claiming that he was a diehard Phoenix Suns fan growing up and thus, he never actually cared for Michael Jordan, who beat them in the NBA Finals:

“I never had Jordan as my top player of all-time list… I had players like Tim Duncan, I had Kobe, I had LeBron,” Frye added.

He then went on to clarify that he actually believes that Michael Jordan was a better player than say, Kobe Bryant, but reassured that he by no means considers Jordan the GOAT.

Needless to say, his good-old friend Richard Jefferson went on to defend him by claiming that – even though he actually doesn’t like MJ that much – he was just trolling guys on the internet the whole time:

“Let me first say this, Channing tried to do what I do — he tried to troll a little bit online,” Jefferson said. “I don’t think he thought anybody was really going to pick up on it the way they did. But first of all, Channing is a big Phoenix Suns fan. He’s a big Phoenix Suns guy. He’s not a Michael Jordan guy, just like all those fans in Utah that you saw have their hearts ripped out by MJ, it happened to Channing when he was 10 years old and it’s still lingering today. But ultimately, my biggest issue with this is that Channing was having fun and the funniest thing about it is that he literally answered every troll online for two straight days laughing about it,” Jefferson told ESPN’s The Jump.

Moreover, Tracy McGrady went on to clarify some of the non-scoring accolades His Airness won during his career, such as the Defensive Player of the Year, two seasons with 200 steals and 100 blocks, and 9 All-Defensive team selections; adding that “He did way more things than just score the basketball. He won Ships”.
