Charles Barkley Gives His Take On Why Kevin Durant Requested A Trade: “I Don’t Know What’s Going On Behind The Scenes But It Sounds Like He Just Had Enough Of Kyrie, That’s My Honest Opinion.”

When the news is as big as Kevin Durant of all people requesting a trade, it’s not surprising that everyone has something to say on the matter. Speculation has been rife as the NBA world wonders what is the reason behind KD wanting out of Brooklyn as the man himself is not saying a word on this matter.

It was first reported that he was unhappy with how the organization had treated Kyrie Irving and while that was what everyone went with at the beginning, it seems like there was something else in play here. NBA insiders believe that KD requested the trade to get Irving out of Brooklyn and Charles Barkley also believes that. During an appearance on the “Dan Patrick Show”, he gave his take on why Durant wants out.

(starts at 1:19 mark):

“It’s really ironic the day after Kyrie bought in, that’s the day he released ‘I want to be traded’. So that would actually bring a lot of things into the light if he says ‘Hey you guys trade Kyrie, I’m back in.’. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes but it sounds like he just had enough of Kyrie, that’s my honest opinion.”

The timing of Durant requesting the trade is what gives more credence to this line of thinking. The fact remains though, that he hasn’t actually communicated this to the team, so it is just speculation. If he really wants to stay in Brooklyn, then he needs to open his mouth soon.

The Celtics are very serious about acquiring him as they believe he can take them over the final hurdle, which he very well can. As for Irving, he seems intent on playing out this upcoming season with the Nets, but it seems the team will trade him away if Durant heads out. This whole situation just seems to get weirder by the passing day.
