Rudy Gobert punching Kyle Anderson has been one of the bigger topics of discussion among NBA circles over the last few days and Charles Barley had some fun at the big man’s expense.
On Inside the NBA, Barkley hilariously mocked the Frenchman by hitting Kenny Smith and then walking backward.
“I’m Rudy Gobert,” Barkley said. “Hey man, I’m just going to tell y’all at home, you can’t hit somebody and run backwards.”

Gobert, of course, did go backward after punching Anderson, though he was pushed by Taurean Prince first and just backed off after that. It wasn’t a good look and it’s not something that people will let Gobert forget in a hurry.
The Minnesota Timberwolves suspended the Frenchman for one game for that hit which meant he missed their defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers in the play-in game. It is bad enough if an incident like this happens at any point, but just before the play-in was probably one of the worst possible times it could have happened.
The Timberwolves played quite well for much of the game but ultimately lost in overtime. One of the big reasons for that was Karl-Anthony Towns being in foul trouble in the second half and if Gobert had been around, Towns might not have found himself in that position.
Draymond Green Had His Say On The Gobert-Anderson Incident
This is, of course, the second instance in less than a year of someone punching their teammate. Draymond Green had punched Jordan Poole during practice before the start of the season and many were looking forward to how Green would react to this situation.
Anderson had reportedly called Gobert a ‘b**ch’ which caused that reaction and Draymond says people around the league think along those same lines about the Frenchman. Green added that he thinks Gobert is on the softer side but did say he gained a little bit of respect for him for standing up for himself.
