The Los Angeles Lakers won their play-in tournament matchup vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves.

It took until overtime for the Lakers to register a 108-102 win over the Timberwolves. Considering the Lakers almost fumbled the matchup, Charles Barkley berated the Purple and Gold for getting ahead of themselves after the victory.

“This is a perfect example right here,” Barkley said. “They think they are better than they are. This ain’t the Bubble, dude.”

The nail-biting matchup could have gone either way. During the third quarter, the Lakers were down 15 points. But the Lakers made a comeback behind an amazing performance from LeBron James.

Moreover, the Lakers managed to hold the Timberwolves to just 12 points in the last quarter of the game. If it wasn’t for a ‘brain fart’ by Anthony Davis on Mike Conley Jr.’s three-point attempt in the dying seconds of the game, the Lakers would have won the game.

LeBron James On The Value Of A Championship Run To Him

The Los Angeles Lakers have now advanced to the playoffs, but the job is not over for the team. In fact, the Lakers’ hard work will be ruined if they get knocked out of the postseason.

Following the close win against the Timberwolves, LeBron James was asked about his thoughts on the value of a championship run to him right now.

“That’s the only reason I play still, is to try to put myself in a position to make championships runs,” LeBron said. “And give teammates that have never been part of a championship run something they haven’t experienced before. It hasn’t changed for me since about 2006-07, that’s just been my mindset every year on how can I make a championship run, and I’ve been successful in four of those. I’ve been able to not only make a championship run but also executive it and actually make it happen.”

Winning the NBA Championship is the ultimate goal for every player in the league. LeBron James has experienced that feeling four times in his career.

But there are many on the Lakers’ current roster who haven’t tasted the sweet success of winning the ring. James wants to fulfill that dream for his teammates this season.
