Michael Jordan is one of the most iconic athletes in the world of sports. The Chicago Bulls legend became one of the most famous people on earth during his active days, earning plenty of love and respect from those who watched him play.

MJ’s had big clout not only on the court but out the hardwoods, sometimes getting away with certain things that not many people would. He lived many things with Charles Oakley, a former teammate and one of his best friends in the league.

The Oak Tree has incredible anecdotes from his time with His Airness, including some that show how respected MJ was wherever he went. In his new book, “The Last Enforcer: Outrageous Stories From the Life and Times of One of the NBA’s Fiercest Competitors,” Oakley recalled this one time when MJ escaped a speeding ticket (2:00 mark).

“We just always go places together, so we were cruising on the highway doing about 110, 120. You could tell when somebody catching up on you, so the car was getting close to us, we just took off doing about 140, 150. Next thing we know, about 2 miles up the road about 20 police cars, and they had a roadblock for us. And we stopped and got out… ‘Oh, Mr. Jordan! We’re sorry; Just slow it down, we’ll see you next week.'”

This perfectly sums up how high people were on Jordan and all the things he did on a basketball court. The GOAT enchanted everybody with his incredible plays and competitiveness, and not even law enforcers knew how to react when they saw No. 23 getting out of his car.

Just like this one, Oakley has more stories about his friendship with Jordan and everything they lived together. Even though they only spent 3 years together in Chicago, the duo remained close after Oakley was traded to the New York Knicks.

Many years after that, they’re still best friends, and Oak knows many details about Jordan and vice versa. It’s incredible to see how respected MJ is that even after getting a roadblock, he just left the scene as nothing happened.
