Chris Paul keeps collecting achievements in a magical season for him and his Phoenix Suns. The veteran point guard will play in the NBA Finals for the first time in his career after 16 years, leading the Suns past the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference finals.
It took a while for Paul, who was very close to play in the biggest series of all before, but external factors prevented him from doing so. Well, that makes this goal sweeter now and the player just wanted to enjoy the moment.
After the Suns beat the Clippers, 130-103 on Wednesday night, CP3 remembered how hard it was for him to be in this position. He couldn’t do in New Orleans, he couldn’t do in Los Angeles, in Houston, and in OKC, but he finally made it in Phoenix.
“From Day One, they welcomed me with open arms,” Paul said after the game. “We still got a lot of work to do, but we’re going to enjoy this — 16 years, surgeries, hard work, losses, bad losses, but we’re going to enjoy tonight.”

Three years ago, he was in a great position to beat the Golden State Warriors in the WCF, but injuries attacked him, leaving James Harden helpless against Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
Before that, he was on the verge of making the WCF with the Clippers. Sadly, they blew a 3-1 lead against Houston in the 2015 playoffs, missing out on a big chance.
Life always gives second chances, and Paul is a great example of that. Just like he did in 2018, he reached a new stage in his career, posting the same numbers: 41 points and 0 turnovers.
He’s about to play in his first NBA Finals after 16 years in the league, and he couldn’t do it with a better group. Either it’s the Hawks or Bucks, the Suns look like favorites entering the series.
