In a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, 18-year NBA veteran Chris Paul opened up on what happened the night he was traded to the Warriors. Knowing the beef he had with Draymond Green, Chris made it his first order of business to meet with No. 23 and settle their drama once and for all.

“As soon as I got traded, I sent him a text. ‘Yo, we need to talk.’ That’s what adults do,” said Paul. “You don’t talk through the media, you let all these people make up whatever story they want to. I mean it when I say it, that’s one of my favorite teammates I ever had in my career.”

Chris Paul and Draymond Green had a public rivalry with each other that involved taking repeated shots at the other side over a few years. Draymond Green once called Chris Paul his least favorite player in the league and there was open hatred from both players.

But after the trade, everything changed for these long-time veterans. For the sake of winning and coming together for a common cause, Paul reached out to bury the hatchet right away and Draymond (a 4x NBA All-Star) was happy to put their differences aside.

From a team perspective, last season was anything but successful but it is better that Chris Paul was able to get comfortable with his new system and brand new teammates. if they are able to build on that chemistry next season, I think they can be a formidable duo on the floor. Either way, the Warriors have never been closer and Draymond has become one of Paul’s favorite teammates so far.

Chris Paul Says Draymond Green Is One Of His Favorite Teammates Ever

For Paul, 39, Draymond was his arch-rival before they became teammates. As an enforcer and top defender for the Warriors, he has a knack for getting on people’s bad side and he was not on good terms with Chris Paul.

But since they joined forces, something has changed between the NBA veterans. Paul says the former Defensive Player of the Year has now become one of his all-time favorite teammates.

“I got a chance to know him this year as teammates. One of my favorite teammates I ever played with, because we’re wired the same. As far as competitive edge, wants to win and that’s not for everybody.”

The Warriors acquired Chris Paul last summer as part of the trade that sent Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards. While he only averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game off the bench, he was a crucial leader for them both on and off the court.

Next season, which could be his last, Paul will have a similar role on a Warriors team trying desperately to make amends for their recent hardships. With no easy path in sight, it remains to be seen how/if the Warriors can return to a state of championship contention. For better or worse, Paul will ride with these guys until the very end and he still firmly believes in what they can do.
