The New Orleans Pelicans are entering the 2022-23 NBA season with high expectations after reaching the playoff last season, beating teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers in the process. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get past the No. 1 seed Phoenix Suns in the first round of the postseason, but they made a big impression during that series.
This upcoming season, Zion Williamson will make his long-awaited return to the court, adding one more piece that can help this squad compete against almost everybody in the West.
Moreover, they secured the signing of one of their best players last season, a veteran who made an impact as soon as he arrived and is expected to make things happen next campaign.
CJ McCollum Agrees To Contract Extension With New Orleans Pelicans
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that CJ McCollum has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Pelicans after putting up good performances last season. The former Portland Trail Blazers guard was great for the Pels, who shocked a lot of people by making it to the postseason despite having huge competition.
New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum has agreed on a two-year, $64 million extension that’ll take him through 2025-2026, his agent Sam Goldfeder of @Excelbasketball tells ESPN. New deal ties McCollum to Pels for four years and $133M.

When many people thought CJ couldn’t be good with the Pelicans, he proved them wrong and became the leader of the team. With young players like Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, Jose Alvarado, and even Herb Jones, this team could be brewing something good for the future.
CJ could never win in Portland, and we’re not saying he will in New Orleans, but he’s in a good position to make some noise in the West and scare a couple of teams.
