The New Orleans Pelicans suffered a painful loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder, finishing their 2022-23 NBA season on a low note. It was a hard-fought game that the Thunder ended up winning after the Pels committed a terrible turnover.

Following the match, CJ McCollum talked about his injury, seemingly throwing shade at Zion Williamson for not sitting out when his team needed him the most.

“Throughout my career, I’ve always been the type of player to do whatever it takes to help a team. I could’ve took the easy way and gotten surgery and just sat and watch, but I’m not that type of person, that type of player. Even though it affected my performance tonight. I’ve never made excuses, I just go compete, do the best that I can and lead by example.”

This could have been taken as a simple message from McCollum talking about his desire to help the Pelicans no matter what, but after Skip Bayless claimed that some people within the organization are mad with Zion Williamson. Following the game, Zion received more criticism from fans, although one of his teammates shut down the notion that they are unhappy with the forward.

Larry Nance Jr. Denies Pelicans Players Are Mad At Zion Williamson

Larry Nance Jr. denied that the Pelicans players have some type of beef with Zion, claiming that they are helping them go back to his best form. Williamson hasn’t played a game since January, and some reports suggest the Pelicans don’t know when he’ll come back to action.

The young player still has a bright future ahead, and the things he showed this season made fans realize that he still got it and can be really productive in the league. However, it remains to be seen if he’ll return to the Pelicans or if the team will simply part ways with him after a tumultuous partnership.
