Since being traded from the Warriors months ago, Andre Iguodala has yet to take the court this season as he awaits news of a buyout or trade. Despite increasing speculation that he will sit this season, the Grizzlies are reportedly confident that they will trade him ahead of February’s deadline.

So far, it’s the Dallas Mavericks who executives believe will be the ones to get him in the end.

Dallas projects to get the Golden State Warriors’ 2020 second-rounder (from the 2016 Andrew Bogut trade), which could end up as the 31st overall selection. That could be a key asset in the bidding war for Iguodala. One Western Conference executive called the Stein report “posturing,” saying, “They’re probably arguing over the Warriors’ pick.”

Who else is in pursuit of Iguodala via trade remains unclear.

The Mavericks link to Iggy should come as no surprise. With Luka and Kristaps, they have emerged as a legitimate threat in the West this year. Bringing in a two-way veteran with Championship experience would help them in the playoffs.

But the price isn’t likely to come cheap, especially with other teams in hard pursuit. The Mavericks will have to decide just how much they are willing to give up for the 15-year NBA veteran.
