The Los Angeles Lakers can build a new Big 3 in town with the arrival of D’Angelo Russell. Russell isn’t an established superstar by any means, but he has All-Star talent, and if the Lakers can unlock it, they’ll be able to play some outstanding basketball.
In his first game back with the Lakers, D’Angelo Russell was able to score 15 points and help the Lakers win against the Golden State Warriors. He and Anthony Davis have already been working on their communication and chemistry. What’s more, Russell was also drawing up plays with LeBron James at halftime for when the King returns to play for the Lakers.
Some have questioned if Russell will be able to play alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James. One of those people is Draymond Green, who was on the other end of Russell’s first win back with the Lakers. Green questioned whether the pace would match between Russell and LeBron James.
“I think the thing that I will watch in this trade is DLo’s fit next to [LeBron James]. That’s going to be a big thing because DLo plays at a certain pace. … And so just to see that fit and how that’s all going to come here I think that’s important to how this trade will be judged.”
Well, for those like Draymond who doubt if he can fit in with his new superstar teammates, D’Angelo Russell had a crisp answer after his first game.
D’Angelo Russell Admitted It Would Take Some Time For The Fit To Work With The Lakers
The great thing about superstars is that they can always find a way to make things work with another talent. LeBron James and Anthony Davis know that with the new roster moves, it will be up to them to make it work. And Russell acknowledged that it would take time but that they would be able to figure it out.
“Obviously what they have going works. So for me to fit with them, I got to figure out how I can fit. I think that’s gonna happen over time and experience.” @Dloading on fitting in with LeBron and AD. pic.twitter.com/QDlQj0sSyM

“I don’t know. I think it’s going to be an experience,” he said. “Obviously what they have going works. So for me to fit with them, I got to figure out how I can fit. I think that’s gonna happen over time and experience.”
The Lakers need to make things work soon, though, the expectation will be that they get into the playoffs and make a run this season. They have just around 30 games to figure it out, but if they can do that, it would make them incredibly hard to stop.
