Danny Green: ‘Lakers Need Dwight Howard And Avery Bradley If They Want To Win NBA Championship’

3 Min Read

We get closer to see the return of the NBA every day, but not everybody is convinced returning to play is the best option for them at this moment. There is growing concern around the league about resuming the 2019/20 season amid protests against racism and police brutality, but there are players who believe using a big platform like the NBA is the best they have right now.

Two players that aren’t sure about going to Orlando to resume the season are Avery Bradley and Dwight Howard, both part of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the favorite teams to win it all this campaign. The Lakers need them both to succeed this season and one of his teammates confirmed that. Danny Green is convinced Bradley and Howard are key pieces for the Lakers’ success.

“I think it’s just important that we’re together,” Green told Caron Butler. “Obviously we’re going to need Avery Bradley, we’re going to need Dwight Howard to be playing for us to have a chance. But I think it’s important that we stay healthy, and not just our team but the league. Everybody that’s in the league has to have a unified front on what we’re going to do and speak with one voice. But for our team individually, as a group, Lakers, we need to be together, we need to be on the same page, we’ve got to stay healthy. I think we have some professional guys that are on top of it and actually staying in shape during this time, so I think we’ll be a little ahead of the curve with that.”

The Lakers were having a terrific moment right before the NBA suspended the season. Bradley was becoming the third most important player on the roster behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis while Howard was having great performances coming off the bench. If they want to be successful, of course, they’re going to need all their pieces.

Players have until Wednesday to notify whether they’re going to play in Orlando next month or if they will sit out.
