Daryl Morey Had Interest From NFL Before Taking Sixers President Of Basketball Operations Role

2 Min Read

Some might call him the next NBA guru, but Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations could have been the next NFL guru. When Morey left his general manager position with the Houston Rockets, he talked about the small possibility of taking a break from basketball. However, he could not stay away long as he eventually took his talents to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Even though Morey is settling nicely with the 76ers, he had another opportunity to lead a potential NFL franchise. Recently. Morey told Rich Eisen that an NFL team reached out to him about becoming a general manager for their NFL team.

I’ll be honest. It would be very presumptive of me to think I could help an NFL team,” Daryl Morey told Eisen, via Brandon Scott of SportsRadio 610. “But they did reach out. I just figure out my skills are JUST much higher and better in the NBA just with the experience and everything. But it was an intriguing idea.”

Morey has built winning NBA teams in his recent years in the league and should be no surprised another major sport is taking a look at his success. At the moment, Morey will have no time to even imagine joining an NFL team down the road as he has plenty of work to accomplish with the Sixers.
