Daryl Morey On The Nets’ Superteam: “I Mean, It’s Annoying. I Would Rather Have All The Good Players In The West.”

Daryl Morey reacted to the Brooklyn Nets’ superteam and it’s fair to say he’s not happy with how things are going for the New Yorkers, their closest pursuers in the Eastern Conference at this moment.

They scored another win on Sunday when Blake Griffin signed with them following his buyout from the Detroit Pistons. The big man is now ready to help Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden win it all in a very competitive conference. Morey talked about it during a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, stating that he’d prefer seeing that kind of team in the West, not going against him in the regular season and on the way to the Finals.

Besides saying that Joel Embiid is the best player he’s seen in his life, he also talked about the Nets, calling it ‘annoying’ because of the harder challenge his Sixers will have to face.

“I mean, it’s annoying,” Morey says of the Nets’ superteam. “I would rather have all the good players in the West. So that’s probably annoying. But you know, everything else will get me fined, I think.”

And because he prefers not to be fined again, Morey dares not say what he thinks of Harden’s latest evolution in Brooklyn, where he is shooting less and playmaking more, and selflessly doing all the things critics once doubted he could do. But if Morey could comment, he would surely say something like: Harden is a great player who will always do what his team needs. The Rockets needed him to score a lot, so he did. The Nets need Harden to feed their other stars, so he does. Harden is about winning, so nothing he’s doing now is really new.

Who once was his biggest player is now one of his biggest enemies in the East. The former Houston Rockets GM is trying to lead the Sixers to the promised land and this month will be very important for him. The trade deadline is approaching and Morey needs to make the right adjustments for the Sixers to face the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.
