The San Antonio Spurs have been in fantastic form over their last few games. They went on a four-game winning streak in late March to take sole possession of the tenth seed in the West. They currently hold a two-game lead over the Lakers in eleventh seed but may have some trouble brewing.

Point guard Dejounte Murray has emerged as the star of the team. He made his first All-Star game appearance this year as the Spurs look to take the fight into the Play-In tournament. However, Murray has suffered a setback in terms of a severe illness that he tweeted about.

While he did not divulge details on what his illness was, he did tweet about the effect on his body and the bad timing of it considering the run they are trying to go on. However, he did appease the fanbase and said he will be coming back soon to help in this fight.

Murray was not part of the Spurs team that just beat the Portland Trail Blazers in consecutive games. However, the remaining four games on the Spurs’ schedule are against challenging opponents all locked in the Western Conference playoff race. These include Denver, Minnesota, Golden State, and Dallas.

The Spurs will definitely need a player like Murray to be the defensive anchor against a guard like Luka Doncic. He is also the team’s primary ball-handler and creator, so tough opponents will be extremely tough to overcome without Murray’s skill-set on this Spurs’ roster.

The Lakers have a prime opportunity to make a push now. While their remaining games are against teams like the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets, they need to take this opportunity and play as hard as they can while hoping the Spurs falter without Dejounte. Nobody has revealed Murray’s playing status, so ideally, he doesn’t miss many games and can close out the season strong with his team.
