DeMar DeRozan’s Honest Take On Zach LaVine And Bulls’ Unselfish Mentality: “He Was Trying To Force Me To Get 40 Tonight And I Told Him I Was Tired.”

The Chicago Bulls bulldozed the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center, with the Bulls trio having a great game. It ended as a 121-103 thrashing as the Lakers’ struggles continue.

The 2021-22 Bulls have been a delight to watch since the start of the new season. Their offseason acquisition, including Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and DeMar DeRozan have bolstered the team on both ends of the court.

DeRozan led the game in points, after scoring 38 in 35 minutes. While the mid-range shooter was content with his night’s work, Zach LaVine wanted him to hit the 40-point mark. Speaking post-game, DeRozan revealed:

“He was trying to force me to get 40 tonight and I told him I was tired.”

One thing that has stood out for this renewed Bulls team is their unselfishness during plays. The ball movement is exceptional, and they evenly share the scoring load. Having three-elite scorers on the court that are not interested in playing “hero ball” has put the Bulls 2nd in the Eastern Conference standings with a 10-4 record.

DeRozan ended the game with 38 points, three rebounds, and six assists while shooting 65.2% from the field.

Lonzo deserves to be commended for his effort on the night as he shot a whopping 76.9% from the field on 13 attempts. His three-point shooting was the highlight of the game, as he made seven three-pointers on ten attempts, more than the entire Lakers team.

The Bulls are the most exciting team in the NBA right now, and they have shown it time and time again. They have taken down some of the heavyweights in the league, including the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Clippers.

The five-game road trip continues for the Bulls as they head to Portland to take on the Trail Blazers. The Bulls are still missing Nikola Jokic, who is out due to the covid-19 health and protocol, and will rely on their small ball lineup once again.
