Despite leading his team to the 2nd seed in the Western Conference, Devin Booker isn’t getting any love for the 2021 MVP award. Right now, after LeBron James and Joel Embiid missed a couple of games due to injuries, Nikola Jokic and James Harden appear to be the frontrunners for the coveted award, but other players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard could make a run for the prize, too.
More candidates could earn the award, including Book, who is taking his team from the 10th position last season to the 2nd this one. He has created a very good association with the relentless Chris Paul, who keeps playing great basketball and making teams better wherever he goes. After beating the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night, Book was asked if he was mad about not being part of the candidates to win the award, but he’s not worried about it.
“I’m more worried about getting these wins and more interested in getting the 1-seed in the West and playing in my first playoff appearance. That’s my main mindset. Whatever happens out in the world, that’s on everybody else.”

D-Book dropped 35 points, with 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 44 minutes of play. The Suns prevailed over the Jazz with a 117-113 final result, who saw CP3 adding 29 points. Phoenix isn’t getting the attention they deserve, either, and that could be dangerous for the rest of the league.
Last year, they were unbeaten in the bubble and if we see that version of Booker in the postseason, the West needs to be careful of this man and his talent. They are bound to end their 12-year playoff drought and make a deep run like the ones they had when Steve Nash, Amar’e Stoudemire and Shawn Marion were part of the team.
