Devin Booker had another sensational game in the Phoenix Suns’ first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers, dropping 45 points in their Game 3 win.

The game was a much-needed win for the Suns, where Booker’s offensive brilliance was unquestionable. He was honest about the reasons behind his success after the game.

“Just win at all costs, that’s our motto. We don’t wanna give any games away. Even though they were undermanned today, we know those guys are still going to bring it. We had to come with a hit-first mindset and we just weathered the storm the whole game… I am put in the right situations. We have KD out here, we have Chris Paul. Those guys attract a lot of attention and it opens up spots for me. Coach does a good job of putting us in positions to succeed and that’s what we’ve been doing.”

The offensive capability of this Phoenix team is actually incredible and something that should worry opponents. The issue this has created is that the Suns have been struggling to defend, something that may sink their playoff hopes in this series or the next.

Are The Suns Still Title Contenders?

Prior to the playoffs starting, many reckoned that Phoenix has just as good a chance as anyone to make it to the NBA Finals due to the densely packed nature of the West. Through their first 3 games against the Clippers, fans aren’t very confident about Phoenix. They’re having to play their stars 40+ minutes consistently to pull out close wins, which will wear them down by the second round.

Their lack of defense was exposed tonight, as they gave up nearly 130 points to a Clippers team without Paul George or Kawhi Leonard. Ultimately, they still have more top-end talent than anybody in the West and will hope that can carry them as far as possible before they can reconstruct the roster in the offseason for a title push next season.
