It’s not a secret that Giannis Antetokounmpo has one of the greatest feelgood stories of all time. He went from selling scraps on the streets of Greece and sharing a pair of sneakers with all his brothers to signing one of the largest contracts in major sports history, winning a couple of MVP awards, and a Defensive Player of the Year award.

You just can’t make this kind of movie story up. That’s why Walt Disney Pictures wants to bring Giannis’ journey to the Big Screen, and it seems like they’ve finally found the right man to portray The Greek Freak:

“As they work to make this idea into reality, Disney has found the man to play Giannis. Newcomer Uche Agada will play the role of the Greek Freak. Moreover, Yetide Badaki and Dayo Okeniyi have been picked to play his parents, Vera and Charles. This will be Agada’s onscreen debut. On the other hand, Badaki has been in various television series, from “American Gods” to “This Is Us.”,” Essentially Sports reported.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s biopic has been in the works since 2019 and the filming is expected to begin somewhere around the end of the year, with Greece and the United States as its main locations.

This way, people will get a closer look at Giannis’ life and all he had to overcome to become one of the best basketball players in the world. Also, they’d get a better understanding of his humble personality, his drive, his competitive mindset, and how hard he works to become the best version of himself.

Needless to say, hoop fans all over the world are already looking forward to this instant classic, and with the Space Jam sequel also just around the corner, the best and most passionate sport in the world will take movie theaters by storm for years to come.
