Following their disappointing finish in the Orlando playoffs, in which they blew a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets, the Utah Jazz are hoping for better fortunes in the season ahead.
Of course, their success will depend on the performance of their star Donovan Mitchell.
The good news for them is, he seems locked-in and determined to make amends for last season’s failures.

“We have good pieces to make a real push for this thing. We blew a 3-1 lead [in the playoffs] this year. I look at it as we need to find a way to get over that hump in the first round and find a way to push and get to a championship. That’s really on the forefront of my brain.”
Spida has already emerged as one of the best players in the game, but it hasn’t yet slowed him down in his pursuit to get better.
“There are times where I take bad shots. Being able to hear his honesty and let me know that it’s a bad shot — more than my teammates would — that’s where our relationship really had accelerated.”
The Jazz were unable to make any significant additions in the offseason, so they’ll be rolling out with much of the same squad as a year ago. With Gobert and Ingles, they’ve got a supporting cast that can hang with the best of them.
But how far they go will depend on just how far Donovan Mitchell can take them.
