Draymond Green On Warriors’ Struggles: ‘There Is No Klay Thompson, There Is No Kevin Durant, There Is No Shaun Livingston Or Andre Iguodala…’

The Golden State Warriors have been anything but good this season, struggling to play well, being dominated by the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks in the first two matches of the new campaign. They lost Klay Thompson before the start of the season and Draymond Green is yet to make his debut, leaving Stephen Curry alone against a Western Conference that is more competitive than ever.

Curry and the Warriors have struggled to find the results, even though they just beat the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, setting the alarms for Steve Kerr and co. Draymond Green has found a great explanation for this situation, stating that this 2020/21 Warriors team is nothing like the one they had in the past five years. Golden State became the rulers of the league by assembling a very good team, but that’s not the case at this moment.

Green explained that the team has some issues to address before starting to win again.

“We have to figure out what we have to do different. Because the reality is there is no Klay Thompson, there is no Kevin Durant, there is no Shaun Livingston or Andre Iguodala… You know everyone would always like point to us 4 but… you know all the guys that have come through here, throughout that 5-year period, where we were really at the top. Those guys were extremely important to what we were able to do.”

“I have come to the realization that those guys are longer here and some things may have to change. So figuring out what those changes are, while trying to stay true to who we are, is the challenge.”

That is true. They had a terrifying squad during that span and now players have retired and others left the team in free agency or via trade. The Warriors need to reinvent themselves and find the formula to be successful again.
