Draymond Green has been fortunate enough to play with some truly special players in his basketball career. He has been teammates with the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant, but the most professional player he has played with is neither of those three.
During an appearance on Podcast P, Draymond revealed that the most professional one is Kevon Looney, and he praised the big man for how he has always conducted himself.
“I think the biggest compliment I can give him (Looney) is, he is the most professional person, player, you name it, I have ever worked it,” Green said. “Never late. Never give anyone anything to be mad about, upset, (or) complain about, doesn’t complain about anything. Does his job plus some.”
(starts at 1:34:42 mark):
Looney had to undergo multiple hip surgeries earlier in his career and it speaks to his work ethic and dedication that he has been able to make a strong comeback from them. Draymond revealed that the big man has a rigorous routine he goes through just to even get on the court.
Faithfully doing it for all these years has helped him play all 82 games in each of the last two seasons, something that would have been almost unthinkable at the start of his career.
Kevon Looney Has Been Immense For The Warriors
Looney has been vital for the Golden State Warriors in their last two postseason runs. For an undersized team like theirs, rebounding tends to be a problem, but Looney has really helped with that.
He had some big rebounding games in the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks last season and played a significant role in the Warriors getting to the Finals.
In this past postseason, he averaged 13.1 RPG, to go with 6.5 PPG, 3.3 APG, 0.6 SPG, and 0.4 BPG. It speaks to the Warriors’ trust in his abilities, that they remain the only team without a player over 6’9″. Head coach Steve Kerr believes Looney is one of the best centers in the league , and they are going to ride with him.
