The long wait to see Victor Wembanyama in action on an NBA court is finally set to end on Friday, the 7th of Julỵ.

The Frenchman had revealed last month that he did plan to play in the Summer League, and he is set to make his debut against the Charlotte Hornets in Las Vegas, as per NBA insider Marc Stein.

“The Spurs’ current plan is indeed for Victor Wembanyama to make his San Antonio debut Friday night in Las Vegas against Charlotte.”

It will be a marquee matchup against Brandon Miller, the second overall pick from the 2023 NBA Draft. Both men would be keen to put on a show, with all eyes being on that game as fans have been eagerly waiting to see the Frenchman in action.

Wembanyama has opted against playing in the California Classic in Sacramento it would appear, where, interestingly, the San Antonio Spurs did take on the Hornets. Miller played in that game, but he struggled and would be looking to make amends in this second contest when he gets a chance to go up against the French phenom.

Victor Wembanyama Is Laser-Focused In The Lead-Up To His Rookie Season

Wembanyama has put everything else on hold as he looks to position himself to have a strong rookie season. He won’t be playing at the 2023 FIBA World Cup as he felt it wasn’t prudent to take part in it from a health perspective.

Wembanyama also had dinner with Spurs legends like Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and David Robinson and stated that he learned a lot about the NBA from them. He also sat down for lunch with fellow Frenchman Tony Parker recently and the two of them analyzed some film along the way.

He has also been training with Gregg Popovich and stated that it has been a great experience so far. Everything really seems to be in place for Wembanyama to excel in the 2023-24 campaign.
