Dwight Howard comes from a huge season with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he proved to himself and the rest of the NBA that he can be valuable to any team. He was helpful for the purple and gold, raising his stocks ahead of free agency. Howard has been linked with other teams around the league, including the Golden State Warriors but he has recently expressed his desire to stay right where he was last season.
Talking with Basketball News, the center revealed that he’d really like to keep playing with the Lakers but, that wasn’t up for him. Moreover, he made it clear that he wanted to get a good contract since he was tired of playing ‘for free.’
“I would love to come back and play for the Lakers again. Hopefully, this year, they give me a contract; that’s the biggest thing. I don’t want to play for free anymore. This year, it was like, ‘OK, I’ll do whatever.’ But I think I’ve earned… a contract.”

After a failed first stint with the Lakers, Howard returned to Los Angeles ready to show the world he changed and was a more mature person and player. Well, that debt paid off for the Lakers as Howard was extremely helpful for them, especially during the playoffs. Howard made a big difference at the paint, becoming a key figure during the Lakers’ championship run.
Now he’ll try his luck in free agency but would also love to return to Los Angeles and run it back alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James. The Lakers have the final say on that matter, but if they don’t offer a good contract to D-12, another team in the league will. As he said, he earned that deal.
