By now, the dangers of COVID-19 are not lost on anyone who has bothered to pay attention. The virus can have a devastating impact on the body that can often be long-lasting.
For NBA basketball players, it can even inhibit their ability to play.
In a chat with the media, Celtics guard Evan Fournier gave some insight into how the virus has impacted his health over the past few weeks.
Fournier said he's been feeling "really weird" since returning from COVID-19. Said it feels like he has a concussion. The bright lights were bothering his eyes and his vision was blurry. Everything going too fast for him. A bit better now but in some ways, "it's still the case."

Fournier said he has heard one-third of people suffer from similar symptoms. He thinks with time it will get better. It's already "slightly better."

From light sensitivity to headaches to blurry vision, there are seemingly several long-term effects that can linger for a COVID-19 patient.
In the case of Fournier, it has clearly made his job more difficult on the court, and it’s hard to say when he will be 100% again.
But, for now, he’s going to continue to try and help the Celtics make a run in the East this season. Through 9 games in Boston, he is averaging 7.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game on 34% shooting from downtown.
The Celtics, meanwhile, have been up-and-down all year, and currently sit 3 games above .500 with a 34-31 record.
It remains to be seen how Fournier and the Celtics will respond amid all the adversity, but it will be interesting to watch it all unfold over the nest few weeks.
