Executives Believe Tyler Herro Loss Won’t Deeply Impact The Heat’s Playoff Fun

Tyler Herro was supposed to be a massive loss for the Miami Heat, but it seems his impact was clearly overstated given the run the Heat are on.

Tyler Herro was supposed to be a nearly season-ending loss for the Miami Heat after getting hurt in Game 1 of their first-round series against the Bucks.

Many people argued that Herro would be a bigger loss than even Giannis Antetokounmpo for the Bucks due to the Heat’s reliance on Herro for the offense. Zach Lowe revealed on his podcast that NBA executives don’t think the Heat are missing the 23-year-old guard in their lineups.

“I’ve heard from a number of executives around the league saying, ‘I don’t think the Heat miss Tyler Herro as much as people thought they were going to miss Tyler Herro.’ I think the longer they advance, he’s gonna recede from memory as like, what a big deal his injury apparently was and is.”

Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in the season and was expected to be their secondary offensive option in the playoffs. His departure from the lineup has allowed the Heat to go all-in on defense, a strategy that has worked really well so far. It seems they can find a way to create offense as long as they stick to their identity defensively.

Can The Miami Heat Make A Dream Finals Run?

With the timeline on Herro’s injury, he could be ready for action by the NBA Finals, provided the Heat can get past the Knicks in Round 2 and make it that far. They’ll face a massive challenge to get out of the East by facing either the Philadelphia 76ers or Boston Celtics, and those teams may have too much firepower for the short-handed Heat.

Jimmy Butler is doing everything for this team, a level of production that will go down as they play more games due to fatigue. They’re also overly reliant on outlier performances from their rotational members like Gabe Vincent going off in the clutch to ensure the Heat beat the Knicks in Game 1

Miami can definitely beat the Knicks if things keep going right, but advancing all the way to the NBA Finals may be a little too challenging for them as presently constructed.
