The Golden State Warriors just pulled out a win in one of the most exciting games of the season over the Atlanta Hawks. While both teams have had reasons to be concerned this season, this game was a classic that the Warriors clinched in 2 OT with a buzzer-beating tip-in from Kevon Looney.

Klay Thompson was easily the star of the night, making sure the Warriors stayed in this game against the Atlanta Hawks team offense which saw 7 players score above 15 points and 4 over 20 points. Thompson’s 54 and crucial 3 at the end of regulation to ensure the Warriors could make it to OT made this a vintage performance that fans lost their minds over.

That’s 52 points for Klay Thompson. First time he’s hit 50 since returning from his two leg injuries. These last three gave the Warriors a two-point lead with 17 seconds left. pic.twitter.com/VE1iZy2d89

We just witnessed another incredible night in the NBA. We saw teams overcome massive deficits, LeBron James put on another sensational performance, and of course, the history-making performance by Donovan Mitchell. Klay Thompson made it clear that he is still the star he was prior to his injuries.

The Warriors Staying Afloat Without Stephen Curry

Given how the Warriors’ season started, it seemed that an injury to Stephen Curry while the team had a .500 record could put them in a massive hole that Curry would have to drag them out of. However, this win was the Warriors’ 5th in a row, all achieved without Steph.

The injuries are significant for Golden State, even missing Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga. These wins are crucial in a very tightly packed Western Conference and are setting the Warriors up for a run when they are finally fully healthy again.
