Joel Embiid is locked in another MVP race with Nikola Jokic, with this being his best shot at winning the trophy that’s eluded him for the last 2 seasons.

Jokic distinguishes himself from Embiid with his passing, so he tried throwing a corner pass while being doubled. Sadly, Embiid missed horribly and threw the ball over the backboard and out of bounds, causing fans to chuckle.

One fan commented on the delicate nature of the MVP race, “A few weeks ago this would’ve just been a funny blooper but now it’s going to be a war ground for an award lol.”

Another fan joked about the MVP race, “Traffic Cone Jokic vs Butterfingers Embiid. The MVP fight of our lifetime.”

A fan made a statement about Embiid’s strength, “Humbling opposing big men with his ox-like strength.”

Another MVP candidate in Giannis Antetokounmpo was mentioned, “Giannis would have thrown it off Harden’s face and got it back.”

Shaqtin’ A Fool legend JaVale McGee was brought up, “I’m 100% sure JaVale Mcgee has done something worse.”

Another fan had a shoutout to Shaqtin’ A Fool, “Peak Tragic Bronson Alert.”

The moment was once again compared to Jokic, “If Jokic’s defense was a pass.”

The 2022-23 MVP Race

The MVP this season will most likely be either Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic. Other early-season contenders like Luka Doncic and Jayson Tatum have trailed off, while Giannis Antetokounmpo remains a viable third candidate. With the way the voters seem to be headed, it’s going to be year 3 of Jokic vs. Embiid.

Jokic is on his way to averaging a triple-double this season with 24.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 10.0 assists. His below-average defense is the only major criticism of his MVP case. Embiid, on the other hand, is an All-NBA caliber defender and is averaging a league-leading 33.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists this season.

The battle is relatively nuanced and comes down to personal preference. Embiid definitely has flashes that advocate for his case but Jokic’s offensive mastery is hard to compete against. Giannis may be the best blend of both these players in the modern MVP race and shouldn’t be ruled out. It’s hard to pick now, so the last month of the season will be crucial in deciding this race.
