Fred VanVleet And Pascal Siakam Were Reportedly Frustrated With Young Raptors Players Last Season

The Toronto Raptors are entering a new era with Darko Rajakovic as the new head coach. Following the departure of Nick Nurse, the Canadian franchise has gotten renewed hopes to compete in the NBA.

Fred VanVleet won't be a part of this, as he recently agreed to a $130 million deal with the Houston Rockets. The guard was reportedly involved in a controversy with another veteran, Pascal Siakam, as they were 'frustrated' with the younger players on the roster.

“Sources have described a team where the veterans — VanVleet and Siakam especially — were deeply frustrated with the younger players on the roster, and VanVleet let them know about it, something the younger set didn’t appreciate at all,” Sportsnet’s Michael Grange wrote. “[Nick] Nurse wasn’t able to bridge the divide as key players kept getting hurt and open three after open three drew only iron.”

Ever since they won the 2019 NBA championship, the Raptors were never back in championship contention. Kawhi Leonard's departure hurt them, but the team was never able to put together a solid team to compete for the title.

VanVleet and Siakam became the best player on the team after Kyle Lowry also left, but they never moved the needle for Toronto. They were good but not enough to make another deep playoff run, ending with disappointing results the last four seasons.

The Raptors now have a good group of young players ready to show up and lead this team to compete for championships. This new era will be interesting for them, especially with another legend gone in VanVleet.

Fred VanVleet Is Already Working Out With Jalen Green

On the other end, the guard is already establishing himself in Houston and was recently spotted working out with another young player, the controversial Jalen Green.

The Rockets need veteran presence on the roster, and both VanVleet and Dillon Brooks are ready to mentor the young Rockets. Ime Udoka is set to make this team a competitive one, and if they can turn things around at Toyota Center, the Rockets will be an uncomfortable rival for many years in the West.
