The Denver Nuggets are in a special era with Nikola Jokic leading the team to its best chance of contention in years. The Nuggets sit as the No. 1 seed in the West right now with Jokic on a strong campaign to win his third MVP in a row.
Jokic is coming off a sensational triple-double against the Lakers where he dished out 16 assists, grabbed 11 rebounds, and only took 5 shots, making each one for 14 points. A day after that performance, former Nuggets head coach George Karl openly remarked about how challenging he finds to figure out a way to stop Jokic, comparing him to Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal.
I’ve been watching Jokic for six seasons now. I think the best thing I can say about him is I still have no idea how I would cover him.
The two other times I’ve felt that was against Michael and Shaq. pic.twitter.com/EPTQ5U4NKe

Karl coached against both MJ and Shaq in his career. His Seattle SuperSonics faced Jordan’s Bulls in the 1996 NBA Finals. He never got to coach Jokic, as Karl left the team in 2013 after an 8-year stint as head coach, one season before they drafted Nikola.
Nikola Jokic Proving He’s The Best Player In The NBA
With every game, it looks like Nikola Jokic is the obvious answer for MVP. After being awarded the trophy 2 years in a row for heavily overachieving with an injury-riddled Nuggets squad, he is taking them to the top of the West now that he has a healthy core around him.
He is getting every player involved and improving everyone’s shot quality. While his defense is a massive concern, his offensive mastery is outpacing teams single-handedly. He doesn’t need to score heavily, as his passes put everyone in the best position to contribute. We haven’t seen a 7-footer like this before and the Nuggets could be the favorite coming out of the West
