Victor Wembanyama has been hailed as one of the greatest prospects in sports history, but there is always one concern that gets brought up about him, which is his slender frame.
The Frenchman stands at 7’4″ but weighs just 210 pounds, as per the NBA, and Glen “Big Baby” Davis thinks Wembanyama wouldn’t have been able to cope with his physicality if they’d ever faced off.
“The length I probably would have struggled with, but the body? Oh yeah, tomato chest. They soft,” Davis said. “That boy looked like a little baby Bambi out there the other night, a little baby giraffe walking around. I don’t think he could handle all this pain. I definitely would have used my body against that boy.”

Davis was just a role player in the NBA, with career averages of 8.0 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 0.9 APG, 0.7 SPG, and 0.3 BPG, but he certainly wasn’t lacking when it came to sheer strength. He stood at just 6’9″, but weighed 289 pounds, as per Basketball Reference, and just on physicality alone, could have given Wembanyama some problems.
The height difference though would have been too much and really, Davis wasn’t skilled enough on either end of the floor to give Wembanyama nightmares.
Victor Wembanyama And His Camp Don’t Believe He Needs To Put On Weight
While the outside world has been calling for Wembanyama to bulk up, he and his camp firmly believe that wouldn’t be the right approach. When the Frenchman was asked about it, he hilariously said the rest of the NBA should skinny up instead.
His agent, Bouna Ndiaye, later added that they would fight to not put weight on Wembanyama’s body. Ndiaye believes it would be a big mistake to add weight and thinks they only need to focus on strength and his core.
They would know his body better than anyone else, but only time would tell if they made the correct decision. For his sake, we certainly hope they did.
