Golden State Warriors As Rookies And As NBA Champions: “Only 2 Of Them Weren’t Drafted By The Warriors”

The post-Kevin Durant era of the Golden State Warriors was off to a bad start after the franchise missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons. But there were a lot of reasons for that. Coming into the 2021-22 NBA season, the Dubs finally looked like their old selves.

They were expected to be one of the top contenders to win the 2022 NBA Championship. Well, the organization lived up to the expectations and didn’t take their foot off the gas until they once again became NBA champions.

It was the team’s fourth NBA Championship in the last eight seasons. This stat truly proves how dominating the Warriors have been in the last decade or so. But what’s the reason behind their success?

Well, as it turns out, the Warriors have preferred homegrown talent over signing or trading players during the offseason. It is evident from the fact that their core of Steph, Klay, and Draymond have all been drafted by the Warriors.

Keeping that in mind, the Instagram page “basketball universe” recently posted an image that showed the current members of the GSW during their rookie seasons and after winning the 2022 NBA title.

Fans quickly noticed that out of the seven players in the graphic, only two players were not drafted by the Warriors. Here’s how fans reacted to this graphic in general:

cayden_carcopa: It’s cool how only 2 of them weren’t drafted by them.

r.a.y_208: Why does iggy look older when he was a rookie than he does now .

deej_hendrix: Whole lot of Original jerseys for a team that’s “lucky” .

prodbydamdaniel: Andre Iguodala looks like he got a whoopin right before getting his class picture taken.

isaiah33848: JP and looney swapped hair .

kvng_tac: Draymond didn’t change much ‍♀️.

ethbatm: Draymond always looked 35 .

gogtuksi: Igoudala looks younger now wtf

ayalalab818: Five out of Seven. Not too bad.

charlie_hredz: No one calls them bought now with KD sure but everyone was saying that is nice to ser a finals that is built for this one so stop it.

After KD’s departure, the Warriors are quickly back on their feet, and the credit for it goes to the front office and the coaching department to trust their current players rather than shopping for talent outside.

At this pace, the Warriors are set to win at least a couple of more rings before the trio of Steph, Klay, and Draymond retire from the NBA.
