With over three-quarters of the NBA season in the books, there is no question that the Boston Celtics are poised to put together a long playoff run this year.

Besides a stacked roster and brilliant coaching staff, the Celtics have another powerful thing going for them: a championship culture. In a recent appearance on Kevin Garnett’s podcast, ‘KG Certified,’ Celtic guard Malcolm Brogdon revealed the truth about Celtics culture and how it has helped shape this year’s contending team.

“I feel like the word culture is used too much, it’s overused. There are very few teams who actually have culture,” said Brogdon. “This is one of the few organizations, from the top down, that has a good culture. No matter who you ask, people want to be a part of that. If you have the opportunity to go to Boston… go to Boston.”

As 17x world champions, it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that the Celtics know what it takes to win. From the guys at the very top like Brad Stevens and Rich Gotham to the role-players off the bench like Blake Griffin and Malcolm Brogdon (of course), the Celtics are fully bought-in, and nobody plays for themselves.

Are The Celtics The Favorites To Win The Title?

The Celtics will only go as far as Jayson Tatum takes them, and we’ve seen what he’s capable of before. At their best, this Celtics team can go up against anyone, and they’ve proven that with a 46-21 record this season.

The question is, can they maintain their trajectory through four playoff rounds? With the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers in their way, the path to the Finals will not be easy for the Cs, and the margin for error is slimmer than ever.

“They know what the ultimate goal is to win a championship,” said Paul Pierce. “So that’s just the one piece of advice. Don’t get bored with practice. Come in on days off. Get your shots up. Get out of there and get teams you’re supposed to beat, go ahead and beat them. Worry about the playoffs when the playoffs come. But right now, we’ve got to take care of business in the regular season. Make sure you get home-court advantage.”

Only time will tell us if the Celtics can take care of business this postseason, but one thing is for sure: they are all out of excuses. If they don’t get it done this year, major questions will start to surface about this team and how they stack up against the rest of the East.
