There’s no doubt that the offensive superstar is playing some elite basketball this season, and he has managed to lead them to the 6th seed in the Western Conference.

Lee Tran: We all saw Luka Doncic yesterday: 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists. He’s insane. He’s been a superstar from his second year onward… After last night, the question is: is Luka Doncic the best NBA player right now? Is he the best player in the league? You don’t see that sort of historic performance every day.
Divij Kulkarni: I don’t think there’s as much of a dispute when it comes to this anymore. He’s definitely a top-3 player in the league right now. I think that’s safe to say. The man is 0.1 points away from leading the league in scoring… he is top 10 in steals which is crazy… The rebounds and the assists, and the clutchness. I think Luka’s top 3 right now for sure.
Lee Tran: So you’re not ready to say Luka is the best? You’re just saying he’s top 3?
Divij Kulkarni: Even as a fan of Luka, I would have to take into consideration how deep the league is in terms of talent right now. Luka did this last night, but you think about what Nikola Jokic has been doing… Giannis, he’s always up there. His greatness has been normalized at this point.
Lee Tran: I definitely agree about how we look over what Giannis does right now… He’s normalized putting up 25 and 10 consistently. It’s crazy… As you said the league is just so deep. It’s hard to say Luka is the clear-cut best even with this performance.
There is no doubt that Luka Doncic has been spectacular for the Dallas Mavericks this year, and it’ll be interesting to see if he does become the undisputed best player in the NBA in the future. It is certainly possible, and another elite playoff run could improve his case for that position.
