Victor Wembanyama is one of the most hyped prospects to enter the NBA in the past 20 years or so. The Frenchman has been making some noise for a couple of years now, and starting this season, the NBA world will have the chance to see him compete against the best players on earth.
Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas was recently asked about Wembanyama’s future NBA career and how he thinks the young player would have fared if he faced off with the ‘Bad Boys’ Pistons.
“He actually would be able to stand up,” Thomas said before saying he’d send some ‘The Original Bad Boy’ gear to Wembanyama. “He’s gonna do fine. We’re excited to have him in the NBA. He’s gonna be great.”
When asked about all the hype and expectations surrounding Wembanyana, Thomas stated that it’s something normal when you’re an NBA player.
“Pressure comes with what we do,” he added.
If somebody knows about pressure, that’s Isiah Thomas. He became one of the best players in NBA history during the 80s and played hard to lead his team to the promised land not once but twice.
Sharing touches with players like Bill Laimbeer, Dennis Rodman, Rick Mahorn, Joe Dumars, and others, Thomas knows that not a lot of people would have handled the physicality of the Bad Boys.
Wemby, however, would have done fine in the eyes of Thomas, who already talked about the hype surrounding the French player a couple of months ago.
Victor Wembanyama Is Set To Mark An Era In The NBA
Meanwhile, Wembanyama is ready to start his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs, excited to join one of the best franchises in the league. He’s already learned about Gregg Popovich’s work ethic and can’t wait to see more of that.
The Spurs are extremely happy about this player, and they hope that this is the one who can take them back to the top of the league. The projected starting lineup for next season looks dangerous, and Spurs Nation is feeling happy about their chances for the future.
