Jamal Murray: “We Know We Can Win The Title”

3 Min Read

The NBA just announced its plan to restart the season next month, with 22 teams competing for the best position in the playoffs. After the front office suspended the season last March, there were doubts about the restart of the season, not when but if the league was actually to resume action at some point this year.

Well, we’re know closer to see some basketball again and some players have already shown their excitement for the upcoming games. Denver Nuggets’ point guard Jamal Murray couldn’t help but show how glad he is that the league is returning, going further and claiming his team knows they have a big chance to win the title next October.

Per Ohm Youngmisuk in ESPN.com:

“We know we can go win the title,” the Nuggets guard said in a Zoom call with Denver reporters. “Me and Joker have been in Denver this whole time, working out.”

“Why not?” Murray later replied when asked about winning it all. “We have proven to be one the best teams year in and year out since we have been building. We have beaten good teams consistently. We shouldn’t have lost to Portland [last year in the conference semifinals]. That was more on us, our inexperience and they are a good team. But we don’t think that there is a team that can beat us in a seven-game series when we are playing at our best.”

Before the suspension, the Nuggets were the third-best team in the West, only behind the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. After the defeat they suffered last season against the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference semi-finals, Murray feels they learned the lesson and now are ready to claim the Larry O’Brien trophy.

They are one of the most promising teams in the Conference. Led by Murray and Nikola Jokic, the future is bright for them. Even if they don’t win the championship this year, they will be part of that conversation for several years.
