James Harden has somewhat quietly had a very good 2022-23 season for the Philadelphia 76ers.

While teammate Joel Embiid was the star of the show, Harden ended up averaging 21.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 1.2 SPG while leading the league with 10.7 APG and he made history in the process.

Winning just the scoring or assist title in itself is a great achievement but to do both of them multiple times is incredible. Harden won three scoring titles in a row with the Houston Rockets, averaging 30.4 PPG in 2017-18, 36.1 PPG in 2018-19, and 34.3 PPG in 2019-20. His other assist title came in 2016-17 when he averaged 11.2 APG.

Only one other player has won both titles multiple times and that is his former teammate Russell Westbrook, who has won two scoring titles and three assist titles in his career. Some of the other big names who have won both are LeBron James, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, and Oscar Robertson.

James Harden Believes This Season Is His Best Chance At Winning A Title

Despite everything that he has achieved, Harden will never get the respect he feels he deserves until he finally wins a championship. His playoff failures are well-documented at this point and he is running out of time in his quest to finally get his hands on that elusive title.

He stated earlier this year that the 2023 Sixers are his best chance at winning a championship and they very well could be. He has a superstar teammate in Embiid and they have a great supporting cast around them as well. The Sixers are the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 54-28 record and they’ll be facing off against the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs. If the Sixers do beat them, then they’ll most probably get the Boston Celtics next and Harden will need to be at his absolute best if the Sixers are to finally get past the Celtics.

His passion for the sport was ignited after witnessing the high-octane offense of the Steve Nash-led Phoenix Suns. Among the Suns, Shawn Marion stood out to Gautam as an all-time underrated NBA player. Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
