On paper, 76ers guard James Harden certainly had an All-Star-worthy season. With averages of 21 points, 10.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 44% shooting, he was crucial to a Sixers team that played elite basketball almost all season long.

Despite the numbers, however, Harden was notably absent from the All-Star rosters this year, and he says it was very disrespectful.

“I said it already, disrespectful!” Harden told SLAM on his All-Star snub. “Most of the people that understand basketball get my value, but some just get bored with my numbers.”

After a few underwhelming seasons, Harden finally found a hint of his All-Star form this year, and he used that momentum to help power his team to the third-best record in the East. Sadly, it wasn’t enough for him to get that All-Star nod, and it remains to be seen if it’ll be enough to get the 76ers deep into the postseason.

Will James Harden Leave The 76ers This Summer?

Harden has looked comfortable in Philadelphia so far, but his impending free agency could be a major game-changer if they cannot agree to terms on a new deal.

“There are some in that organization who would not mind at all if Harden left,” an Eastern Conference executive told Sean Deveney of Heavy. “I don’t think he will, but he could, and even if he doesn’t, he is not going to get a real long deal from the Sixers. He is getting older, you don’t know how much of a commitment you want to make him.”

The future of James Harden is clearly uncertain, and Joel Embiid could also reconsider his feelings if the team flames out early once again.

Needless to say, a lot is riding on these playoffs, and what the 76ers are able to show in terms of how successful Embiid and Harden can be together when it matters most.

Beyond this season, nobody is sure how things will play out for this team, but it’s even more reason why they need to go all-in and capitalize on what they have going right now.
