The Dallas Mavericks have not had a good time in the Western Conference Finals. After a stunning series win over the Phoenix Suns, where the Mavericks came back from 2-0 down to upset the league leaders, many expected them to continue that momentum into the WCF. However, the team just lost Game 3 and is facing a deficit that has never been overcome in NBA history.

From the post-game comments, it looks like the Mavericks may just take consolation in being a surprising story who weren’t expected to make the NBA Finals. The Mavs had stunned many in the NBA world when they beat the Suns, but it doesn’t look like they have the juice for another upset.

Jason Kidd may have thrown the proverbial towel in after the game by lauding the achievements of the team so far and painting a picture of this year being just the beginning for the Mavericks.

Taking solace in the Mavericks making it here is a little disappointing considering the series is still not over. While we have never seen a 3-0 comeback in the playoffs, the Mavs need to at least push to not be swept. Being swept won’t take away from the fact that this was an extremely positive season for the team, but to keep the positive momentum going into the next season, they should take a win in Game 4.

Jason Kidd should have the Mavericks come out and play like their season is on the line and make adjustments on how the team is playing.

The Mavericks are fatigued and unable to keep up with the Warriors and it can be seen plain as day. But the Mavericks do have a player who dropped 23-points in the fourth quarter in Luka. If the team can match the effort that Doncic put in the fourth quarter, this series may go on for more than just 4 games.
