The meltdown against the Chicago Bulls led to the Boston Celtics receiving a lot of backlash from their fans. Although the entire team was part of that poor performance, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown had targets on their backs. It is understandable since the two stars are currently franchise players for the Celtics.

Along with fans, even their teammate Marcus Smart was unhappy with the duo’s performance. He even called them out about not passing the ball enough

Well, maybe Smart’s words got through to his teammates as the Celtics played well against the Orlando Magic. They registered their third victory of the season and now have a record of 3-5.

There is still a long way to go in the season, but it was good to see the Celts back in form. Jaylen Brown added 28 points to lead his team to a sensational win. Following the victory, Brown was asked about his honest thoughts regarding Marcus Smart’s comments a few days ago.

“Obviously, in the midst of trying to win games, it was something that we probably didn’t need but we all communicate and talk to each other. We all trying to find ways to win and I’m open to any and everything when guys bring it to me.”

While Brown ended his comment by being open to receiving any suggestions from his teammates, the beginning of his quote felt like a subtle call out to Marcus Smart. After all, calling out your two best players during the middle of the season and that too publicly is something people take with a pinch of salt.

Although what Smart said was true to some extent, he could have mentioned that to Tatum and Brown personally rather than in a post-game interview.

The Celtics are pretty prone to drama and it is nothing new. But if things escalate from this point on, it will only harm the team in the long run. The franchise will be aiming to win an NBA Championship this season, but a team with no chemistry won’t be able to bring home the glorious Larry O’Brien trophy.
