In a hard-fought matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Boston Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum, faced a tough overtime loss with a final score of 114-109, over a month ago. While Tatum displayed his scoring prowess with an impressive 32-point performance, the star of the night was undoubtedly Anthony Edwards, who contributed significantly with 38 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

“That was a good game and he played his a** off. Like, he made plays on both ends. I was pissed because it’s two teams, and I know it might end one day, but up until that point, I never lost to Minnesota.”

“I had my first 50-point game against him, like I never lost to Minnesota and I’ve never lost to Memphis.” (1:05:15)

Despite the stellar performance from both teams, Tatum revealed his frustration and disappointment in an interview on Andre Iguodala’s Point Forward podcast. The Celtics’ standout player admitted that he was upset about breaking his winning streak against the Timberwolves, a team he had not lost to until that game. Tatum highlighted that his first 50-point game occurred against the Timberwolves in 2021, making the defeat even more impactful.

Expressing his respect for Anthony Edwards’ exceptional form throughout the season, Tatum acknowledged the young player’s outstanding efforts on both ends of the court. Tatum’s frustration, however, stemmed from the end of his undefeated streak against Minnesota.

Tatum’s competitive spirit and desire to maintain winning records against specific teams were evident in his comments. Despite the disappointment, he emphasized the hope that the Celtics’ success against the Timberwolves was just a momentary setback. The competitive fire within Tatum remains a driving force as he aims to secure victories and establish a lasting legacy with the Boston Celtics.

Anthony Edwards And Jayson Tatum Will Be Here For Years To Come

The NBA is witnessing the emergence of a new generation of superstars, and among them, Jayson Tatum and Anthony Edwards stand out as two formidable players who are set to leave a lasting impact on the league for years to come.

Tatum, already established as a superstar, has been a cornerstone for the Boston Celtics with impressive averages of 27.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. His scoring ability, versatility, and leadership on the court have solidified his status as one of the premier players in the league.

Tatum’s shooting percentages of 49.9% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc demonstrate his efficiency and ability to contribute across various facets of the game.

On the other hand, Anthony Edwards has burst onto the scene this season, showcasing his dynamic skill set and earning recognition as a rising star. Edwards has been a key player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 25.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.

His scoring versatility and playmaking ability, coupled with shooting percentages of 45.4% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range, highlight his potential to become a dominant force in the league.
