Jayson Tatum On His Mom Sending Him To School Without Girls: ‘My Mom Put Me In A Private School. It Was An All Boys School. I Had My Son When I Was 19, If I Would Have Went To A Public School He Might’ve Been Like Five.’

Jayson Tatum is now a top 20 player in the NBA after a terrific season with the Boston Celtics. The young forward has been considered a very promising player since his high school days and he’s proving that now. A lot of factors were involved in his development as a player and as a person, especially his mother, who didn’t want him to get distracted on his way to the NBA.

It’s normal to see young people made life-changing decisions during high school years and Jayson’s mother, Brandy Cole, was well aware of that. The Boston Celtics star reflected on his mother’s decision to send him to an all-boy school so that he couldn’t get distracted by girls and focus on basketball and nothing else.

“My mom put me in a private school. It was an all boys school. I had my son when I was 19, if I would have went to a public school he might’ve been like five,” Tatum said.

Well, you can say Ms. Cole made the right decision. Her son is now one of the future faces of the league, playing in the most successful franchise in the league, trying to add more silverware to the trophy case.

It’s inevitable to think, though, that Jayson had more options to protect himself but his mom didn’t want to risk anything and send him to an institution without girls. Knowing what he thinks about that decision, it was a smart one. Tatum looks very happy with his career and family and it’s easy to assume that he wouldn’t change anything from the past.
