For any other player, the prospect of losing a 3-0 lead might be enough to start a full-scale panic. But for Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, he was surprisingly calm and composed after losing on Saturday and allowing the Celtics to force a Game 7.
After going up 3-0, Butler and his team will face major scrutiny if they lose this series, and so the matchup on Game 7 is going to carry some pretty significant weight. Nonetheless, Butler remains confident in his team and says they can still pass the test and make amends for their mistakes.
“I believe, as we all do, you’re going to get the same test until you pass it,” said Butler. “We were in the same position last year. We can do it. I know that we will do it. We have to go on the road and win in a very, very tough environment.”

The Heat have caught fire in the postseason, using guys like Caleb Martin, Max Strus, and Gabe Vincent to out-shoot the competition. But it’s important to remember that the Heat team we saw in the regular season wasn’t nearly as dangerous. In truth, these last three games from Miami have been like a return to the normal for them, which obviously does not bode well for their chances in Game 7.
Can The Heat Avoid An Embarrassing Collapse?
Everything will be on the line on Monday night, and one of the two teams left will be crowned as the winner of the East. For a while there, it looked like the Heat had an easy route to the Finals, but they let the Celtis mount a comeback, and Jimmy Butler will have to try everything to ensure a win in TD Garden tomorrow.
“I just missed shots. I just gotta make them,” Butler said after Game 6. “I’ve got to continually hit the open guy, stay aggressive, and continue to lead the way for our guys I’m gonna smile, I’m gonna go home and play some spades. I don’t care what nobody say. Everything going to be okay…”
No matter the game plan, Jimmy will have to play better than he did on Saturday when he shot an abysmal 23% from the field. If he can do that, and start playing like a superstar again, it will go a long way toward saving this season for the Heat.
