Over the last few years, Jimmy Butler has made a name for himself by elevating his game to the next level come playoff time. Butler lived up to that reputation in the 2023 NBA playoffs too. Well, at least until Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Miami Heat have lost three straight games against the Boston Celtics since then. The Game 6 defeat for the Heat came following Derrick White’s phenomenal game-winner. Speaking of which, Jimmy Butler has been a part of the losing team in three out of six game-winning buzzer-beaters when facing elimination in NBA history.

The first incident took place during Game 4 of the 2015 Eastern Conference first-round between the Chicago Bulls and the Milwaukee Bucks. Jared Dudley drained a game-winning layup with just 1.3 seconds on the clock. The Bulls still ended up winning the series 4-2.
Butler’s second time being on the receiving end of a game-winning buzzer-beater is arguably one of the most famous shots of all time in the playoffs. Yes, we are talking about Kawhi Leonard’s famous shot in Game 7 of the 2019 Eastern Conference Semifinals. Leonard’s dagger sent the Toronto Raptors to the next round while Butler and the Philadelphia 76ers returned home.
Finally, the most recent addition to Butler’s list came when Derrick White hit the last-second game-winner vs. the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals.
Can Jimmy Butler And The Miami Heat Still Close Out The Series Against The Boston Celtics?
The Boston Celtics became only the fourth team in NBA history to force a Game 7 in the playoffs after trailing 3-0 in a series.
If the Celtics can win the Eastern Conference Finals, they will become the first team in the history of the league to win the series after going down 0-3. Despite the momentum being in Boston’s favor, Jimmy Butler still guaranteed a Game 7 victory for the Miami Heat.
Although at this point in time, not many trust Butler’s claims. After all, he has made the very claim over the last two games as well. Either way, the hard-fought series will have an iconic ending.
