Jimmy Butler Has Signed A 4-Year $182M Extension With The Miami Heat

The Miami Heat had a memorable run during the 2019-20 season, with Jimmy Butler managing to lead them to the NBA Finals during the bubble. It is clear that Jimmy Butler has reached another level during his time with the Miami Heat, and it looks as though the franchise has rewarded him with a brand new extension.

Shams Charania has reported that the Miami Heat have given Jimmy Butler a 4-year contract extension which totals $182 million. The Heat extending Butler suggests that they’re willing to compete in the present, and their recent acquisition of Kyle Lowry supports that line of thinking as well.

Breaking: Five-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler is expected to agree to a maximum contract extension with the Miami Heat when the league year opens on Aug. 6, sources tell me and @JonKrawczynski.

The Miami Heat certainly have a lot of star power on the roster. Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo have all made All-Star teams in recent memory, and the roster certainly projects to be a top-tier playoff team.

The Miami Heat will likely be a gritty defensive squad like they were this season: Kyle Lowry will add some scoring to that mix as well. This Miami Heat core is very talented, but they clearly looked like they were missing a piece during their first-round exit against the championship-winning Milwaukee Bucks. Perhaps Lowry can be the solution. But the key to their hopes will lie with Jimmy Butler, and hopefully, he can continue performing at the level he did this season.

It remains to be seen if the Miami Heat have enough to beat the other powerhouses in the Eastern Conference. What is clear though is that the Miami Heat obviously believe in Jimmy Butler’s ability to keep them competitive and potentially lead the team to a title.
