Jimmy Butler was in attendance during the latest LA Sparks game on Saturday. With his Heat out of the title race, he had plenty of time to catch one of the WNBA’s hottest young players, No. 22 Cameron Brink, doing her thing on the court. It also led him to make a rather cryptic comment that had social media buzzing.
“Being in Los Angeles as much as possible because I realize the Sparks are great and the LA team is really good. For some reason, the No. 22 just looks good in the Purple and Gold.”

In the clip, Butler was referring to 22-year-old Cameron Brink, who was drafted second overall in the 2024 Draft. He’s clearly a big fan of hers and it may have something to do with an old viral video in which she revealed just how much she liked Butler.

Bink is doing pretty well in her WNBA career so far. While her numbers are modest at 8.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, the 6’4″ forward has shown loads of potential on both ends of the floor. At the very least, her play was enough to earn the attention of Butler, who came to her game tonight rocking her iconic No. 22 jersey.
Coincidentally, Jimmy Butler also wears the same number for his career in the NBA and that fact wasn’t lost on him. He made references several times to the Lakers franchise and had fun trolling them all night.

Before the game even started, Butler poked fun at Lakers fans by wearing Brink’s jersey and describing how much it must have hurt Lakers Nation.
“Yall see this jersey/shirt I’m wearing right now. 22 purple and gold says Brink, not Butler, unfortunately, LA fans,” said Jimmy.

The Lakers have two stars already but it’s no secret they’ve been looking for a third. In the aftermath of the Russell Westbrook debacle, they’ve been left with no clear options for that role and it’s left them exposed to some major flaws.
Butler, 34, would be an ideal fit for the Lakers, even now. After averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game on 49.9% shooting for the Heat, he holds his place as one of the best two-way wings in the league.
Alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, he could bolster the frontcourt defensively and provide key shot-making down the stretch of games. As a hard worker with a “mamba mentality,” he could help bring out the best of everyone on the roster.
With two years still left on his deal, including a $52 million player option for 2025-26, Butler is not going anywhere for now but the Heat could reach their breaking point soon if wins don’t start to pile up over the next few seasons.
Jimmy Butler already likes Los Angeles and it stands to reason that he wouldn’t mind living closer to the Sparks so he can watch more Cameron Brink. All the Lakers have to do now is come up with a package strong enough to get the Heat at the negotiating table.
