Joe Ingles After Team Australia Beat Team USA: “We Came In Here Expecting To Win The Game And That’s What We Did”

Team Australia shocked Team USA on Monday, giving them their second loss in preparation games for the upcoming 2021 Summer Olympics. After a surprising defeat in front of Nigeria, Team USA couldn’t get past Patty Mills, Joe Ingles and co.

The Oceanian country put up a show against the North American, getting a 91-83 victory. The game plan was perfect, and the Aussies were confident that they would get the W even before the start of the match.

Utah Jazz star Joe Ingles admitted the team knew they could beat their rivals, and always kept that in mind.

“No disrespect to them. They’re a hell of a team, obviously, the guys they’ve got on their roster,” Ingles told reporters, according to The Athletic’s Joe Yerdon.

“And Pop standing up there is always nice to see. But we came in here expecting to win the game, and that’s what we did,” the Utah Jazz forward added.

Ingles scored 17 points in his team’s victory, helping Patty Mills (22 PTS) lead the Boomers to get a vital result ahead of the Olympics. Team USA only could win their first game against Argentina on Monday, playing like they’re expected to play, leaving no chance to their rivals.

They’ll face Team Australia again this Friday, trying to get revenge. Ingles and co., however, will try to repeat the same history.
