Joe Lacob Says Warriors Are Always Looking To Add New Stars

The Spun

The Golden State Warriors were – undoubtedly – the best team in the league during a five-year stretch, winning 3 out of 5 rings and even breaking the record for most wins in the regular season.

But a lot of things have happened since then, and even though they still have their championship core together in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green; they need more pieces to go back to the top of the world.

That’s why Warriors executive Joe Lacob admitted that they’re always looking to add more stars to their roster, citing that not all rumors are true but that sometimes, they’re indeed trying to make a deal:

“Absolutely. No question. Why wouldn’t we? Otherwise, we wouldn’t be doing our job,” Lacob told NBC Sports. “We call about things the general public does not know about, like rumors we are hearing, sometimes it is true and sometimes it is not.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody. While the Warriors have a reputation of being good to their players, this is still a business and their sole purpose is to win an NBA Championship.

Recently, the Warriors have been linked with the likes of Damian Lillard, Pascal Siakam, Kevin Love, and even Kawhi Leonard. Whether those rumors are true or not, it’s still too early to tell.

What we can be sure of is that the Warriors’ front office continues to work around the clock to try and surround the Splash Brothers with the kind of talent they need to succeed and make another championship run.

Klay Thompson will be back to full strength next season and their title window may close sooner than expected with him, Curry, and Green entering the backend of their primes, so we wouldn’t be shocked to see the Warriors being quite aggressive in their pursuit of talent over the next couple of months.
