The Phoenix Suns suffered yet another loss to the New Orleans Pelicans in their first-round series last night. The Suns are now tied 2-2 against the Pelicans, despite being considered favorites in the series. The best team in the NBA might have a tough battle on their hands, with the gritty Pelicans not giving up at all. The Pelicans’ fight and effort were perfectly summed up by Jose Alvarado’s sneaky steal against Chris Paul.
Alvarado has made a bit of a reputation for himself in the NBA, with his steals now becoming a signature move. Chris Paul had been able to evade Alvarado earlier in the series, but Alvarado was finally able to get the better of the Point God last night. After the game, Jose Alvarado spoke about the steal, noting that he can finally claim he was able to do it against CP3, someone who was high on his list of targets in the NBA.

The Pelicans pulled off yet another gutsy victory against the Suns, and will now be looking to cause a massive upset in the first round. The number one seed in the NBA has been knocked out of the first round since 2011 when the 8th seed Memphis Grizzlies knocked out the 1st seed San Antonio Spurs in the playoffs. And if the Pelicans keep performing well, it isn’t impossible for them to achieve the same.
The Pelicans found their opening in Game 2 when Devin Booker went off injured after trying to block Jaxson Hayes. Since then, Booker has been ruled out for the series so far, with there not being much optimism for his return. The Pelicans have the perfect opportunity to try and upset the Suns. Going further would also open the door for Zion Williamson potentially to make an appearance in the playoffs for the first time.
